First Place - Silver State 150

CALIENTE, NEVADA – One observer called it a “jaw dropping victory” as Sven Ellstrom and co-driver Mark Holz bested a field of 37 racers in the Pro Turbo UTV Class at the Best in the Desert Polaris RZR Silver State 150 in Caliente, Nevada on Saturday by nearly nine minutes.

With the racers leaving Caliente at 30 second intervals, the Ellstrom team went off second, behind Phil Blurton of Loomis, California, winner of the Vegas to Reno race on August 19th by a few seconds over team Ellstrom. Ellstrom and Holz passed Blurton before the mid-point of the rugged 150 mile track and built up a 30 second lead.

From that point on, it was all Ellstrom Racing as the team built up a big margin over the eventual second place finisher.

Ellstrom/Oberto Racing will finish their inaugural season in the Best in the Desert Series as a team to beat going into the VT Construction 250 in Tonopah, Nevada October 22 and the Pahrump Nugget 250 December 3rd.
