Tonopah 250 Next For Ellstrom/Oberto Racing
After scoring a stunning victory over a large field in the Polaris RZR Silver State “150” presented by Method Wheels in Caliente, Nevada September 24th, Sven Ellstrom and co-driver/navigator Mark Holz will set their sights on another big win on October 21st at the VT Construction Tonopah “250” presented by Polaris.
After putting the red, green and white colors of Oberto Beef Jerky on the top of the podium in Caliente, Ellstrom and Holz should be among the front runners in the Pro Turbo UTV Class in the Best in the Desert Off-Road Racing Series event on the 250 mile course outside of Tonopah, Nevada.
As a result of the first place finish in Caliente, the Ellstrom/Oberto team will be the first off the line at the start of the race at noon on Saturday the 21st with the rest of the field going off at 30 second intervals.
Staying ahead of more than three dozen of the top UTV racers in the country will be a challenge which team owner Erick Ellstrom feels the team is ready for. To say that 19 year old Sven Ellstrom has been sensational in his rookie year would be an understatement, having already posted a series of podium finishes and over-all wins in the class.
“Sven has done a great job,” remarked Ellstrom. “With the support we have received from a great sponsor in Oberto as well as invaluable help from Mark Holz and Holz Racing, Walker Evans Racing, Vision X and our other sponsors we have been able to exceed expectations for a first year team and we are really grateful to everyone who has helped us get off to a great start.”
Ellstrom added, “It’s also great to have the support of Tensor Tires behind us and on the Ellstrom/Oberto UTV. We are excited to head to Tonopah for another opportunity to race against the best in the sport and continue our learning curve as we prepare for a strong season in 2018.”
